The Rwanda Institute of Architects (RIA) has confirmed that market and service inspections will commence after the registration deadline of 31 March 2026, as part of enforcing the new law governing the practice of architecture in Rwanda.
The inspections will be conducted in line with Law No. 023/2025 of 01/09/2025, which regulates the practice of architecture and allied services, including landscape architecture and interior design. - Identifying individuals or companies offering architectural services without authorization
- Ensuring adherence to professional, ethical, and technical standards
- Protecting clients, developers, and the public from unqualified or unregulated service providers
The inspections will be carried out by RIA’s inspection and disciplinary committee, in collaboration with relevant government authorities where necessary.

- Individual architects practicing independently
- Architectural and consultancy firms
- Businesses offering architectural, interior design, or landscape architecture services
- Multidisciplinary firms and consultants providing architectural services as part of their operations

Timely registration will allow practitioners to transition smoothly into the new regulatory framework and continue operating legally and professionally in Rwanda.

RIA has also reminded developers, public institutions, and private clients to engage only registered and licensed architects and firms when procuring architectural and allied services, in order to ensure compliance with the law and safeguard project quality.
