We are a vertically integrated aquaculture company with associated hatchery, cage production, distribution, and sales operations. Kivu Choice is now the largest aquaculture company in Rwanda producing and selling over 450 tons of fish every month. In the next 3 years, we plan to scale to 2,500 tons a month where we will be the largest and most sustainable protein producer in Africa.
Description:
As an Electrical and Refrigeration Engineer at Kivu Choice, your primary responsibilities revolve around ensuring the maintenance and repair of refrigerated storage and transport units to preserve fish quality. You will also be involved in troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring refrigeration systems operate efficiently in the company’s daily operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems within refrigerated storage units, reefers, and cold rooms, including diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues,
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair refrigerated storage units and transport refrigeration systems used in fish processing and distribution.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
- Inspect, test, and replace defective components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and electrical wiring.
- Conduct performance tests to identify issues and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Performing basic engine diagnostics and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Adhere to safety regulations and company policies while working on refrigeration equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service in our fish farming operations.
- Be able to install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communication, lighting and control systems in homes, businesses, and factories
Skills:
- Experience working with brands such as Carrier, Thermo King, or other reefer units is a plus.
- Electrical systems knowledge
- Circuitry and wiring installation
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Automation and control systems
- Safety procedures and protocols
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Reefer Technician, Refrigeration Mechanic, or similar role.
- Diploma or certification in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of electrical, technical training or related Degree
