January 2026 Project Updates: Key Construction Projects That Commenced Across Rwanda
Rwanda’s construction and infrastructure sector kicked off 2026 with several major projects aimed at transforming urban landscapes, improving transport connectivity, and supporting community development. Below are some of the key projects commenced in January 2026:
1. Parklane Center
On 15 January 2026, construction officially commenced on Parklane Center, a landmark 25-storey mixed-use tower set to redefine Kigali’s skyline.
The development will feature a sky bridge, premium office and commercial spaces, and Rwanda’s first suspended swimming pool. Once completed, Parklane Center is expected to become a major architectural and investment highlight within Kigali’s central business district.

2. Construction of the 32 km Kaduha–Mugano–Mushubi Road
On 14 January 2026, Nyamagabe District officially launched construction works on the 32-kilometre Kaduha–Mugano–Mushubi road, a vital transport corridor expected to ease long-standing mobility challenges for local communities.
The road will significantly improve access to markets, health centres, and administrative services. In the first phase, over 9 kilometres will be constructed, with this section planned for completion within 18 months, marking a major step toward enhanced connectivity and economic growth in the region.

3. Construction of the Reconciliation Shrine at Ibanga ry’Amahoro
The Catholic Church commenced construction of the Reconciliation Shrine at Ibanga ry’Amahoro, a project valued at approximately US$300,000.
Officially launched on 7 January 2026, the shrine is expected to expand facilities for pilgrims seeking healing, unity, and spiritual renewal. The site already attracts more than 17,000 visitors each month, highlighting its growing significance as a religious and cultural destination.



4. Construction Of RUDP Phase 4 Asphalt Road In Huye City
On 16 January 2026, the Mayor of Huye District, Sebutege Ange, officially launched construction works of a 1.13-kilometre paved road in Tumba Sector, Cyarwa Cell under the RUDP II Phase 4 program. The project is valued at over 1.5 billion Rwandan francs and is expected to create employment opportunities for more than 150 local residents during the construction period, contributing both to infrastructure development and community livelihoods.

5. Construction of Bin Herz Mosque in Nyamata
Through the support of Abdul Hakim Bin Herz from the United Arab Emirates, Muslims in Bugesera District, especially those living and working in Nyamata town, are set to receive a modern mosque. The project is expected to cost 400 million Rwandan francs.
The construction project was officially launched on Friday, 23 January 2026, during a foundation‑stone‑laying ceremony at the construction site. The event was attended by the Mufti of Rwanda, Sheikh Musa Sindayigaya, the Mayor of Bugesera District, Mutabazi Richard, the donor Abdul Hakim Bin Herz, and several Muslims who pray in Nyamata.
