Wastewater Treatment Construction Manager at SSC HR Solutions

Position Overview: Job Workplace: Kigali, Rwanda

The Wastewater Treatment Construction Manager will lead and manage construction activities for wastewater treatment projects. This role involves coordinating with engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure that wastewater treatment facilities are built to specifications, on schedule, and within budget. The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire construction process, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting, while adhering to environmental regulations and safety standards.

The Scope of Works shall comprise of the Design and construction of a collective sewerage system (collection and conveyance network including gravity & pumped systems) for the Sewage Treatment Plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all aspects of wastewater treatment construction projects.
  • Manage subcontractors and construction crews, ensuring adherence to contract specifications and schedules.
  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of project progress to ensure quality standards and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental regulations are followed throughout the construction process.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on project status, including financial performance, schedule adherence, and any issues that arise.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and community representatives.
  • Implement project controls to manage costs, quality, and schedule risks effectively.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates and facilitating discussions on challenges and solutions.
  • Lead project close-out activities, including documentation and final inspections.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in wastewater treatment technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Educational qualifications: At least a master’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.

Minimum Years of Experience in Similar Sewerage Work (years): 12-20 years Depends on position. preferably in wastewater treatment or environmental projects.

More than 12 projects experience of waste water treatment and sewer network

  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience managing construction sites, including safety and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and project tracking tools.
  • Valid driving license is required.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and project management skills to supervise teams and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Understanding of budgeting and cost control in construction projects.
