We are seeking a Procurement Assistant Officer to join our team in Rwanda. This role is vital in supporting the procurement function, ensuring cost-effective and timely sourcing of goods and services, while building strong supplier networks across Rwanda and the surrounding region.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Sourcing & Procurement within ERP systems, specifically SAP S/4HANA, strong knowledge of procurement best practices, and hands-on exposure to the Rwandan market and regional supply chains.

The Procurement Assistant Officer will follow up and coordinate procurement processes, ensuring the acquisition of goods and services at the best value. Responsibilities include supporting procurement strategies, coordinating with suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up and coordinate procurement activities within Rwanda and neighboring markets, engaging with local and regional suppliers.
- Ensure effective utilization of economies of scale and best practices in procurement.
- Support the communication of supply strategies to align stakeholders.
- Assist in driving continuous improvement and process efficiency.
- Gather and use market insights to support procurement strategies and mitigate risks.
- Follow up on supplier performance and ensure service delivery.
- Support financial and budget monitoring under the Procurement Manager.
- Assist in implementing savings and cost optimization initiatives.
- Contribute to operational excellence in sourcing and procurement processes.
- Support HSE initiatives and comply with company IMS policies.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Rwandan procurement market dynamics and regional supplier base.
- Knowledge of procurement principles, processes, and regulations.
- Negotiation skills to support favorable supplier agreements.
- Analytical abilities to assess supplier proposals and contracts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder and supplier collaboration.
- Must have experience in Sourcing & Procurement in ERP systems, with mandatory expertise in SAP S/4HANA.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional qualification in Supply Chain/Logistics is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years total work experience, with at least 3 years in procurement.
- Prior experience in Rwanda and the surrounding regional market is required.
