What Can Be Approved at Sector Level?

According to guidelines from the City of Kigali, the following permits can be requested at the sector office:

1. Repair Permits (Icyangombwa cyo gusana)

For houses located in residential zones (R1–R4) that:

Have no upper floors (single-storey)
Are under 200m² in total area

2. Renovation Permits (Icyangombwa cyo kuvugurura)

For minor modifications that do not change the structure of the house, also limited to:

Single-storey homes
Under 200m²

3. Outdoor Toilet & Bathroom Construction

Allowed in residential zones and officially recognized villages (imidugudu), with a size limit of:

1.5m x 2m

4. Kitchen Construction

Permitted for standalone kitchens in residential areas and imidugudu, with a maximum size of:

2.5m x 2m

5. Structural Renovations
