Building Permit Services Now Available on IremboGov: What Homeowners, Contractors , Engineers and Architects Need to Know
On 29th January, Irembo announced through its social media platforms that a full range of building permit services is now available on the IremboGov platform. This development marks a major transformation in how construction approvals are accessed in Rwanda — offering a faster, fully digital, and centralized process.
For homeowners, contractors, architects, and engineers, this update means reduced paperwork, fewer physical visits to offices, and greater transparency throughout the entire permitting process.
What Services Are Now Available on IremboGov?
Irembo, in collaboration with the Rwanda Housing Authority (RHA), has added 11 construction-related services to the Building Permit category on IremboGov. These services include:
1. Construction Project Modification
For adjusting approved plans before or during construction.
2. Temporary Structures Authorization
For tents, kiosks, temporary shelters, and short‑term installations.
3. Construction of Fence
For building or modifying boundary walls and fences.
4. Building Permit for Refurbishment (No Structural Alteration)
For renovations that do not affect the building’s structure.
5. Building Permit for Refurbishment (With Structural Alteration)
For renovations involving beams, slabs, columns, or major layout changes.
6. Occupancy Permit
Required before using or moving into a completed building.
7. Change of Building Use Permit
For converting properties into offices, shops, schools, or other uses.
8. New Construction Permit
For building any new residential, commercial, or industrial structure.
9. Inspection Notice
For scheduling official site inspections during construction.
10. Demolition Permit
For safely removing existing structures.
11. Renewal of Permit
For extending expired or soon‑to‑expire building permits.
These services are now accessible through the new Irembo interface, making the entire process digital and trackable.
