Job Title: Central Control Room Operator

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Team Leader

Location: Musanze 

Job Summary:
Works closely with Production Supervisors/Manager, Quality Control, Production Section Head and Process Attendants on plant operations. Monitor all the control systems and resolve plant-related issues associated with equipment temperatures, malfunctions, sensor alarms and plant production. Optimize production while ensuring good quality cement products at minimized production cost.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost effective operation of a cement process plant and equipment, while ensuring quality cement products are consistently manufactured.
2. Make routine checks of plant equipment and processes.
3. Monitor and troubleshoot operating equipment.
4. May involve observing computer-printouts, video monitors and gauges to verify specified processing conditions and to make necessary adjustments.
5. Coordinates equipment for starting up and shutting down production systems in cases of emergency or as required by schedule.
6. Participates in safety audits and programs and provides emergency response when required.
7. Reports process problems to the Production Team Leader and Process Attendants.
8. Responsible for various assigned tasks when plant is not in operation or operator is not needed in control room.
9. Achieve product availability: quality and consistency
10. Achieve overall reliability targets for cement mill, packing and loading.
11. Achieve specific plant performance
12. Achieve energy consumption and other production targets.
13. Identify process deviations and perform root cause/corrective action.
14. Minimize quality and environmental non-conformances
15. Maintain health, safety, environmental and housekeeping standards
16. Report on Conformances
17. Complete accurately and timeously production documentation.
18. Ensure Safe working environment and compliance to company & legal requirement.
19. Follows all plant safety policies.
20. Performing any other duties that senior management directs to do.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, Chemical engineering, production technology or any engineering related field.
2. Advanced diploma in production technology, Mechanical engineering or any engineering related field with above 3 years’ experience in cement production.
3. Knowledge of Vertical Roller Mill (VRM) operation would be an added advantage
4. Above 3 years’ experience in cement production.

3. Quick decision-making, organizational and time management skills, as well as problem-solving abilities
