We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Managing Director to lead LUMEN LTD into its next phase of growth and innovation. Based at our head office in Kigali, you will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial success of the company.
As the Managing Director, you will be the primary driver of our mission, ensuring project integrity from conception to completion. You will lead a dedicated management team, cultivate strong client relationships, and champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement that exceeds expectations and solidifies our position as the “best service provider in the field.”Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan in alignment with the vision set by the Board of Directors.
- Drive innovation in science and technology to maintain a competitive edge and enhance service delivery.
- Ensure robust corporate governance and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
2. Financial Management & Profitability
- Assume full P&L responsibility for the company, ensuring profitable and sustainable growth.
- Lead the annual budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation processes to optimize financial performance.
- Analyze financial data to make informed strategic decisions that enhance profitability and shareholder value.
3. Operational Excellence & Quality Assurance
- Oversee all technical and administrative operations across departments, including Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Services, and Construction Management.
- Champion the company’s Integrated Management System, ensuring strict adherence to internal policies and international standards (ISO 9001 & ISO 17025).
4. Business Development & Client Relations
- Act as the chief ambassador for LUMEN LTD, building and maintaining high-level relationships with key clients, government bodies, and industry partners.
- Lead business development initiatives to expand market share and secure high-value projects.
- Foster enduring client relationships built on trust, integrity, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering quality on time and within budget.
5. Team Leadership & Corporate Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team to build a cohesive and high-performing leadership unit.
- Cultivate a corporate culture that encourages self-improvement, teamwork, and innovation.
- Uphold the LUMEN reputation and Code of Ethics, ensuring the values of impartiality, independence, and integrity are practiced at all levels.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience within the Rwandan industrial and commercial project sector is a significant advantage.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or an MBA is highly preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the Geotechnical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Project Management sectors.
Demonstrated success in managing teams and driving company growth.
Skills:
Strong technical background in advanced geotechnical investigations and specialized pavement design.
Exceptional leadership, team management, and project coordination abilities.
Outstanding communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
Attributes:
Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen.
Ability to work effectively on-site in Kigali City, Rwanda.
