UMC JV is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scheduler (Planning Officer) to join our team on the prestigious New Kigali International Airport Project in Rwanda. The Senior Scheduler will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of projects through the development, maintenance, and oversight of detailed project schedules.
This position requires close collaboration with project managers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to track progress, optimise resources, and anticipate potential risks—ensuring project milestones are met on time and with quality.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including scope, tasks, dependencies, resources, and timelines.
✅ Collaborate with project managers to optimise resource allocation and balance workloads.
✅ Identify critical paths, milestones, and potential bottlenecks.
✅ Regularly update schedules to reflect progress and changes, communicating variances to stakeholders.
✅ Analyse schedule performance and recommend mitigation strategies for delays or risks.
✅ Prepare and present accurate schedule reports to management and stakeholders.
✅ Develop “what-if” scenarios and contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
✅ Ensure integration of schedules with cost management, risk assessment, and other project systems.
Qualifications & Skills
🎓 Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related field.
📊 Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and scheduling principles.
🛠 Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling tools.
📈 Minimum 6 years total experience, with at least 5 years in the construction industry.
🌍 Prior experience in large-scale construction projects in Africa is preferred.
💡 Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
👨 💼 Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor junior staff.
