Hospitality Manager at Akilah Institute

We’re seeking a talented, creative, and highly organized Hospitality Manager to manage our beloved Akilah villa. This isn’t just a property management job. It’s a chance to shape a multi-purpose retreat space that will welcome Airbnb guests, private event clients, and serve as a home for Akilah’s workshops, gatherings, and community events.

From leading the design and furnishing of the villa to managing daily operations, guest experiences, and vendor coordination, you’ll be at the heart of every detail that makes this property feel special. You’ll also manage our online presence to ensure the villa stands out as a beautiful and trusted destination for visitors from around the world.

This is a consultancy role with flexible hours, performance-based pay, and room to grow. You’ll be invited to work alongside the Akilah team at a coworking space in Kigali, where you’ll have a dedicated desk and the chance to collaborate and connect with a creative, mission-driven team.1. Property Design & Furnishing

  • Lead the design and furnishing of the property to create a comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing space for guests and events.
  • Source, purchase, and oversee the installation of furniture, décor, and amenities in line with the property’s style and target market.
  • Regularly update and refresh the design to keep the property appealing and competitive in the market.
  • Ensure the property layout and furnishing are practical for both short-term stays and event hosting.

2. Guest & Client Relations

  • Serve as the primary contact for guests and event clients, delivering professional and friendly communication.
  • Ensure a seamless booking and stay experience, including timely responses, check-ins, and addressing any concerns.
  • Gather and implement guest feedback to continuously enhance the property and services.

3. Property Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring the property is clean, well-maintained, and ready for guests and events.
  • Supervise a small team, including a housekeeper and maintenance guard, to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Manage property preparation, staging, and breakdown for both guest stays and events.

4. Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Manage the budget for design, furnishing, maintenance, and operations, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.

5. Marketing & Website Management

  • Oversee the property’s listings on Airbnb, Vrbo, and other platforms, ensuring compelling descriptions, professional photography, and competitive pricing.
  • Monitor online reviews and rankings to maintain and improve the property’s reputation.

6. Event Coordination

  • Work directly with event clients to plan and execute successful events, including managing vendors, layouts, and logistics.
  • Ensure the property is event-ready, including setup, supervision during events, and post-event cleanup.
  • Maintain compliance with event-specific rules, capacity limits, and neighborhood considerations.

Compensation

10% of monthly revenue with a $500 USD fee for the first month.
