Position Overview: Job Workplace: Kigali, Rwanda
The Sewer Networks Construction Manager will oversee the construction of sewer networks and associated infrastructure projects. This role is critical in ensuring that all construction activities are executed efficiently while adhering to safety, quality, and environmental standards. The individual will coordinate with various stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure successful project completion on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage construction projects for sewer networks, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones while managing the budget and resource allocation.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure construction adheres to safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and construction crews to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project objectives are met.
- Prepare regular reports on project status, challenges, and achievements for stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of materials and equipment necessary for construction.
- Engage with local authorities and communities to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Lead project close-out activities, including final inspections and documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
At least a master’s degree in civil engineering or construction management
More than 12 projects experience of wastewater treatment and sewer network
- Minimum of 12-20 years of experience in construction management, specifically in sewer and drainage projects.
- Strong understanding of sewer construction techniques, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools for project tracking and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address challenges and optimize project performance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualification:
- Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCM) is preferred.
- Experience with advanced sewer construction techniques such as trenchless technology.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to sewer and drainage systems.
