Huye Business Mall Hits 71% Completion Milestone, Completion Expected by Late 2026
The construction of the Huye Business Mall has reached 71% completion, according to recent updates from Huye District, marking significant progress on one of the region’s largest commercial developments. The project continues to advance steadily, with completion expected by late 2026.
Developed by Huye Trading Company, a consortium of 50 local investors, the project officially commenced in December 2023. Since then, it has made notable progress, positioning itself as a key infrastructure investment aimed at transforming the commercial landscape of Huye.
The mall is designed as a four-storey building (Ground + 3), with plans for a possible second phase that could add three additional floors. Once completed, it will provide more than 20,000 square metres of usable commercial space, making it one of the largest trading facilities in the district. The project, valued at approximately Rwf7 billion, is located on the former Ngoma Sector site.
Upon completion, the Huye Business Mall is expected to accommodate between 2,000 and 3,000 traders, significantly expanding business capacity in the area. This will help address the shortage of modern commercial spaces in Huye, where many existing facilities are either fully occupied or not suitable for larger enterprises such as supermarkets.
In addition to providing modern retail space, the project will include a dedicated parking area to help ease congestion in the town center. It is also expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity in Huye and surrounding districts.
With progress now well past the halfway mark, the project stands as a strong example of private sector investment driving urban development and economic growth in Rwanda.
